APPLICANT ELIGIBILITY: 

To qualify for a LEO Scholarship, you must meet all of the following requirements:

• Be a person of color or a woman.
• Be a current student with financial need.
• Attend—or have been accepted into—a Minnesota post-secondary institution, and be registered for the upcoming term in a law enforcement, criminal justice, or corrections program. Proof of registration is required.
• Plan to pursue a career in law enforcement, criminal justice, or corrections within Minnesota.

If you meet all these requirements, we encourage you to apply.

Upload all required materials to the LEO HUB by March 1, 2027. Late or incomplete applications will not be considered.

PREPARE THESE FIVE DOCUMENTS: 

1. Completed and signed LEO Scholarship Application Form — available at the bottom of this page.
2. Personal résumé — no more than two pages.
3. Current transcript or letter of acceptance. Proof of registration in an eligible program is also required.
4. Letter of interest — no more than one page, written by you and not generated by AI.
5. Letter of recommendation — from a professor, teacher, or business associate.

INSTRUCTIONS TO SUBMIT YOUR APPLICATION:  

• Create an account in the LEO HUB, then upload each document in its matching section. (The link to the HUB is at the bottom of this page) 
• Once all five documents are received, your application will await review. Uploading your documents DOES NOT mean they have been approved or that you have been awarded a scholarship. You must check your email or on your HUB dashboard 
• Keep your login information private. Check your HUB dashboard regularly for your application status and messages from admin. Email notifications may also be sent, but do not rely on email alone.

INTERVIEWS:

Applicants invited to continue must participate in a virtual interview with the Scholarship Committee. Interviews typically take place in March.

If invited, you will receive a personal scheduling link to choose an available interview time through the HUB. Interviews last approximately 30 minutes.

SCHOLARSHIP AWARDS:

Scholarships are typically awarded in April. Selected recipients will be notified and asked to attend the LEO Scholarship Awards Ceremony, which also typically takes place in April.
