Please check through the following Applicant Criteria, to determine your eligibility.
If any of the criteria below do NOT apply for you, you do NOT qualify for this scholarship:


  • I am a person of color, or a female
  • I am a current student with financial need
  • I am attending a Minnesota post-secondary education institution or have made application and been accepted into a Minnesota post-secondary education institution.  I have registered and I plan to attend the upcoming term in a law enforcement, criminal justice, or corrections course of study. (Proof of registration in a course of study as described above is required for the LEO Scholarship.)
  • I am interested in a law enforcement, criminal justice, or corrections career within the State of Minnesota.


If ALL statements above are true and correct for you, then please apply for the scholarship.

LEO Scholarship Applicants need to complete the following steps and submit their application materials by February 1, 2026.


Scholarships are awarded in April for selected recipients. Be sure to read the criteria and instructions thoroughly. Late or incomplete applications or materials will NOT be considered. 


IMPORTANT NOTE: The application MUST be postmarked by February 1, 2026 to be considered for the current scholarship round.

The application process means submitting ALL of the following: 


  • Completed LEO Scholarship Application Form (located at the bottom of this page)
  • Personal Resume no longer than one (1) page in length
  • Current Transcript or Letter of Acceptance
  • Letter of Interest no longer than one (1) page in length (not AI generated)
  • Letter of Recommendation from professor/teacher or business associate

LEO SCHOLARSHIP INTERVIEW DETAILS

If selected for the LEO Scholarship process, applicant must also agree to participate in an in-person oral interview with the Scholarship Committee, which will be scheduled on an individual basis. Interviews typically take place in March.


LEO Scholarship Awardees will be asked to attend an awards ceremony. The LEO Scholarship Award Ceremony typically takes place in April.

  • Application - accepted through the website or snail mail. All materials must be submitted together. Scholarship applications will be accepted from October 1, 2025 through February 1, 2026.  The following are due upon submission: 
    • Application filled out completely (located at the bottom of this page) 
    • Personal resume - no longer than 1 page.
    • Current Transcript or Letter of Acceptance 
    • Letter of Interest - no longer than 1 page and NOT AI generated. 
    • Letter of Recommendation from a professor/teacher or business associate


  • NO LATE OR INCOMPLETE APPLICATIONS WILL BE ACCEPTED. NO EXCEPTIONS.


  • Interview - an interview will be conducted in March. All applicants must be available for an interview. 


  • Award Letter - the awardees will be notified prior to the ceremony in April.


  • Awards Ceremony - The awardees will be given their scholarships and be celebrated in front of family & friends during the awards ceremony held in April.

PLEASE NOTE: Scholarship applications will be accepted from October 1, 2025 to February 1, 2026.. Interviews for scholarship applicants will be held in April, 2026 and scholarship recipients will be notified shortly after. The LEO Scholarship Awards Ceremony will be held in May, 2026.

Complete applications must be received by the application deadline date to be considered for a scholarship award. Incomplete applications will not be considered. Award amounts will vary among applicants each year. The LEO scholarship should be considered a competitive scholarship.


An individual's involvement in law enforcement, criminal justice, or corrections along with community service and academic achievement will be taken into account. 


The scholarship pool amount, and individual awards are subject to change without notice, as it is dependent on vendor career fair participation.
